My Story

I'm Alex Robinson and I'm a PTUK registered Play Therapist working in school and in my private practice. I am based in Otford, near Sevenoaks, Kent. I am also a primary school teacher and mum to three children.  I started primary school teaching over 20 years ago (which I still absolutely love) and more recently became very interested in children’s mental health, due to the growing number of children I was observing with anxiety, lack of confidence and poor mental health and wellbeing.

In 2019, I began my therapy and counselling journey by achieving my Level 2 and Level 3 Counselling Skills Certificate with the CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body).​In March 2022, I went back to university and began Play & Creative Arts Therapy training with the university of Chichester and in November 2023 gained my Postgraduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play therapy Skills. While continuing with my training, I embarked on a short course in the applied use of Mindfulness with the British Mindfulness Institute.

In June 2025, I received my Postgraduate Diploma in Play & Creative Arts Therapy and am a certified Play Therapist. ​As a teacher and mum, I know how important Play is for developing a child's language, social and problem - solving skills, negotiation, creativity, empathy, emotional resilience, health and well being. Now, as a therapist, I also see first hand how powerful play is in offering such healing properties.
